Surface is excited to announce The Matter of Remaining, the SurfRes 2026 exhibition. This show marks the culmination of a four-week group residency in the gallery’s Project Space.

The Matter of Remaining showcases a multitude of distinctive approaches while allowing ideas, materials and methods to find unexpected points of contact. Spanning moving image, performance, painting, installation, textiles and animation, the featured practices poke at the boundaries of the everyday, memory and ephemerality.

Surface hosts an annual Residency and Exhibition Project for early- and mid-career artists to support them in developing their creative practice.
