I studied at Bradford and Liverpool colleges of art in the seventies, graduating with a Fine Art (Hons) degree in 1976 and gaining a post graduate teaching qualification (ATD) from Liverpool University the following year. I taught in Secondary education for many years and was a committed Head of an Art Department before leaving in 2012 to take a studio at Surface, where besides printmaking and photography I work in mixed media especially recycled wood.
There is most often some sort of story revealing itself to me when working directly with materials. I enjoy a sense of communicating something however abstruse. Never sure exactly what I am doing until I just get on with it!
I have exhibited locally, The Beetroot tree gallery, Stapleford Library, Banks Mill, Derby, and Street Art Open at Surface Gallery, ‘Brew Dog’ Nottingham and in London. I have work in private collections locally.
I have work on long term show at Derby University Enterprise Centre (2015-2016) and photographs and prints for sale at The Old School House, Stanton by dale and Friar’s house Dale Abbey. I am currently working to a commission creating an Abstract relief and enjoy liaising with a client to personalise outcomes.I also run creative and enjoyable printmaking workshops in the region.
