SeeD presents a body of new work in a variety of media from a group of lecturing staff at South East Derbyshire College. Work exhibited includes textiles, photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and video.
The exhibition presents a diverse and dynamic body of work, showcasing the practices of five lecturers in Art & Design at South East Derbyshire College, Ilkeston. SeeD is a mixture of two dimensional and three dimensional work, some abstract and some representational.
The lecturers, who specialise in a range of art and design practices including photography, textiles, games development and performing arts, aim to demonstate to their students some of the commercial skills needed to turn their talents into a living.
Organiser Phil Taylor said: “The main purpose of the exhibition is to show the students what goes into putting together an exhibition, from booking the space, mounting the work and then marketing the show and selling the pieces.
“You can obviously teach this in the classroom but it is much better to put this into practice so that they can be involved and learn first hand.”
The exhibition is open from November 21st - November 29th.
