This November Surface Gallery proudly presents Part I; new work from a newly formed studio group Sixes & Sevens, an umbrella organisation supporting a number of artists committed to hosting diverse art events and collaborations throughout Nottingham and the East Midlands. They are animated and thought-provoking young artists on the brink of their professional careers who cannot be pinned down just yet. The show brings together a varied mix of practices and interests that exist within the group.
There is no particular theme that the work in the show uniformly adheres to, but more an approach or ideology that is embraced as a whole. The basis of the show is not to reflect on outside events such as financial instability or uncertainty of our place in the art world, but to continue with the same positive principles as ever, and an uncompromising air of optimism.
Part I will be curated by Dan Green, Amy Fisher, Simon Franklin and Sarah Duffy.
The Private View will be held on the 9th November 6-9pm, where you will be able to view the work and meet participating artists.
