Surface gallery now presents Open Show 2009; this follows on from the previous exhibition of Tom Lovelace’s ‘The Cut’, who was the winner of Open Show 08.

In the tradition of past Open Shows, Surface Gallery have carefully curated an exhibition of selected artworks that hopes to reflect the wealth of current creative talent happening in 2009. This diverse selection of artists spanning a variety of different backgrounds promises to explore the full spectrum of the art world, with work ranging from sculpture, painting and drawing, to film, installation and new media.

Open Show is a fantastic opportunity for contemporary artists to exhibit work in a professional gallery, all of whom have been selected from an open submission process. The exhibition provides a stepping-stone in supporting emerging artists by giving two winners of the exhibition a Prize Winners Show, which will be held at the gallery in early 2010.

The Private View will be held on Thursday 23rd July between 6-9pm. There will be the opportunity to view the work and meet the exhibiting artists, and celebrate another year of the Open Show at the Surface Gallery with a glass of wine.
