The Surface Gallery presents a month long free film festival celebrating a wide breadth of provocative international cinema. Several decades worth of exciting and cutting edge filmmaking will be explored through two main themed evenings per week; the subterranean and political culture, in addition to artist short film evenings and weekday Retro fun matinees. Each week has a similar structure, repeating these themes though exploring them through different films.
Please note: Due to limitations of our licence we are unfortunately unable to advertise actual film names; however you can sign up for our mailing list. If you are on our mailing list or are a member of our Surface Gallery Facebook Group you will be invited to our De-Profundis related event where you will be able to see more information on what will be shown.
Retro fun matinees will be available in your lunch hour from 12-2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays
Politics and propaganda evenings 6-9pm Mondays
Subterranean explorations, take time to know your underground 6-9pm Tuesdays - including films from directors such as Le Luc Besson and Hiroshi Teshigahara.
Artist’s films 6-9pm every Thursday - showcasing a range of regional and national talent.
With a programme of films as varied and inspiring as this we have no doubt there will be something for everyone.
Featured directors include: Chris Marker, Emir Kusturica, Giuseppe Tornatore, Hiroshi Teshigahara, Le Luc Besson, as well as a number of independant & local artists, including Wellington Films the creators of ‘London to Brighton’.
Food and drink will be available during the intervals, we look forward to seeing you there and sharing our passion for film!
