Gerry Henegan-Barr

Originally from Merseyside, Gerry moved to Nottingham in 1980, where she has lived for 35 years. She has a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Therapy. She has worked for LEA’s, the NHS, Social Services and has tutored courses for the WEA, working with Adults with Learning Difficulties. She is also a qualified Holistic Health Practitioner.

Gerry has had a studio at Surface Gallery since Feb 2013.

She has exhibited her art & sculptural work in a number of galleries. In the last few years these have included Rufford Art Centre, Thoresby Gallery, Beetroot Tree Gallery, & the Royal Academy London Summer Exhibition, 2012.

Gerry’s work includes figurative sculptural mixed media pieces, which could broadly be described as mixed media sculptural tableau, using diverse materials. She also uses photo images, written work and poetry as inspiration for her final pieces.

She has shown sculptural tableau work, three times in studio artist group shows at Surface Gallery in 2013, 2014 & 2015. She has also had 3 solo Le Loovre micro gallery shows at Surface Gallery: Ceramic figurative sculpture & mixed media in “It’s About Time...” in Feb 2014. “When All Hope Has Gone...Here comes The Sun”, a mixed media installation piece, brightening the Loovre stairs in December 2014 with sunflowers in Winter, leading up to the Loovre itself which was transformed into Van Gogh's bedroom. The last of her Loovre shows was 'Bestial Supremacy: It's Reigning Cats not Dogs', which exhibited alongside the International Postcard Show 2016.
