This Friday, Surface will open its doors to host Eks'Vee, an exhibition put together by a collection of Nottingham Trent's Photographic-field MA students. In the run up to this, we've been to see the University's coextending exhibition of all creative MA subjects, "Making The Future '14".
The Bonington Gallery, the heart of the Art & Design school of Nottingham Trent, showcases this month the extensive creativity and intelligence of its MA students in its exhibition, 'Making The Future '14'.
The delightfully multi-faceted mixture of work is coordinated around each other, allowing the viewer to explore each work separately, as themes and as practices.
The selected students present a variety of work - MA fashion Design students show skillfully worked textures of wool, fur and acrylic; MA Branding Identity & Design explore packaging and material use; as well as MA Fine Art-er's who present works of refined pencil, pen and digital image. The eclectic, stylish mix of professional works creates a real appreciation of fulfilled creativity.
Trent's MA Photographer's also present accomplished combinations of images and contexts in the Bonington Gallery, such as 'Hypermobility Typology', 'Relics' and 'Garlic'.
We are honoured that a selection of these students, as well as other, have chosen Surface to showcase their works alongside 'Making The Future '14' on a larger, more in depth scale with 'Eks'Vee'...
"On the 19th of September Surface Gallery will open the door for a new exciting exhibition. EKS' VEE, a group of fifteen Masters students in Photography and Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University will display their personal research from across political and social themes going through abstraction.
Surface Gallery will be the stage where different stories and reports will take place, creating a mix of languages, points of view, photographic techniques and meanings all together. EKS' VEE is a synthesis of a collective aim, each artist needing to display the most hidden and inconvenient part of our reality. With a deep focus, each artist investigates how our contemporary life can be multifaceted, being at the same time so private and personal."
The two-week exhibition invites the public to engage not only with the work but also with the contributing artists, with a series of community talks and projections. We're very excited to be the MA Students second-stop on their way to photographical professionalism! Don't miss the Private View this Friday here at Surface from 6pm.
'Making The Future'14' at the Bonington Gallery, Nottingham ends 2nd October
'Eks'Vee' at Surface Gallery, Nottingham ends 3rd October.
