This summer Surface Gallery will be hosting the works of Alex Dewart, Lindall Pearce and Marion Piper.
The works of these three artists show an awareness of the significance of an artwork’s surface and its use in expressing unrealised meanings. This exhibition intends to connect the practices of all three artists to express resonance and highlight their differences. Displaying a variety of mediums from painting to sculpture, this collaboration aims to subvert expectations using physical and conceptual means. To accompany this exhibition there is also an illustrated paper and essay about the artists, written by art writer Maggie Gray, and foreword by Professor Danny Rolph.
The exhibition will be launched on Friday the 20th June, 6pm until 8pm. Everyone is welcome to come to the opening night and there will be refreshments at our bar provided by Surface Gallery’s sponsor, Springhead Brewery. For those interested in hearing more about the works and the artists’ practices there will be an informal artists’ talk on Saturday 21st June at 12pm. This looks to be an insightful event, opening up the artists’ creative processes.
