This October, Surface Gallery will see the return of Julian Rowe, prizewinner from Painted Surface 2015, and his solo exhibition It's Too Soon To Say. Painted Surface – a contemporary painting competition - showcased a selection of contemporary painters from Great Britain, Germany, Australia and United States of America featuring works that expanded the definition of painting.

Surface Dwellers: Old and New

This August sees the return of Surface Gallery's resident studio artists in their annual exhibition. Last year, our exhibition Above/Below saw collaborations between studio artists and volunteers; this year, Surface Dwellers will see the studio’s newest and oldest occupants working together. Studio spaces have changed hands and artists have moved on to pursue new projects, yet the spirit of collaboration remains.

NTU Festival 2016: As If By Magic

This March sees the return of Surface Gallery's annual collaboration with Nottingham Trent University with the fifth NTU Festival: As If By Magic. Following the success of last year's NTU Festival, Stories in the Dark, this year's selected Fine Art students take their practice into the dark arts with the creation of new work that explores illusion, alchemy, and the mesmerising. Their response to the magical is showcased in four week-long exhibitions.
